Denim Playsuits.

Denim Playsuits.

This season everyone seems to have adopted a denim playsuit and the good news is they are even easier to wear than jeans. The all in one playsuit means you don’t have to spend hours searching for the perfect top to go with your outfit. Accessorise the look with a cute three quarter length, a skinny belt, shades and shoes. The playsuit is suitable for both day and night, simply dress it up with statement heels for an evening event or alternatively team with cutesy trainers or sandals for a more laid back and casual style.

The denim playsuit certainly hits this seasons’ denim trend on the head and there is one to suit every shape and style. This style can even be taken into the autumn winter season as they can be layered over tees and long sleeved tops as the weather gets a little cooler.

Celebrities that have recently been spotted sporting the short and sweet trend include the likes of Una Healy, Naomi Watts, Nicky Hilton and Diana Vickers. Una worked a faded denim number and teamed it with a belt, scarf and metallic heels in order to give her playsuit an edge of elegance. Naomi went for the laid-back surfer girl look and teamed her playsuit with flip-flops, statement shades and a cutesy ribbon belt. Miss Hilton worked total LA style and kept it simple apart from a pair of oversized shades. Diana Vickers opted for a pastel coloured jacket and a statement clutch in order to break the denim look up.

The highstreet have a number of styles available that are sure to suit all, from halter neck patterned denim ensembles to tie dye pieces.

This style however certainly isn’t un-glam and it’s definitely still sexy, it’s just not overly girly. This all-new look simple takes all the best bits of a man’s wardrobe and makes them individual by adding a little edge and a certain element of attitude.

Celebrity A-lister’s sporting the trend includes the likes of Alison Mosshart, the kill’s singer. This queen of the he-she trend is currently touring with Jack White as part of The Dead Weather. August and fashion.

August and fashion.

This season proves it’s time to step into reality and forget about the ‘of the moment’ trends and the over the top and over embellished pieces that can never quite leave the catwalk.  This August it’s time to get real, there are no longer any impractical and over priced attire ruling the runways, instead this attire has been replaced by everyday wear with an added edge and women with women in mind have designed them all.

This proper grown-up attire may not be creating an over the top statement, they neither are however anything close to boring or anything like the functional clothes that have been labelled investment dress.

This season designers are creating a series of attire that is set to make your pulse reach the roof.  The four key looks appear to be the ‘seductress’, the ‘ingénue’, the ‘lady’ and the ‘vamp’, meaning there is most certainly a style to suit all!

When working anyone of these styles you will in turn be creating the new you.  Think ‘Nouveau Goth’ meets the ‘Rockabilly’ and throw together a mix of lambskin, silk and leather.  Finish the ensemble with a statement accessory such as a felt top hat.

Other looks to work include the adventurer and the traveller.  When styling the traveller look to Erdem and team one of his newly introduced wool capes with a pair of lace up flannel boots by the high-end fashion savvy Christian Louboutin.

The traveller works a mixture of wool, silk and jersey fabrics, each layered over the other in order to create a low key and relaxed look with that luxurious edge.

This season’s dos and don’ts in the world of fashion.

This season’s dos and don’ts in the world of fashion.

Our new love on the fashion scene for 2010 comes in the shape of Nicki Minaj and her eccentric wigs.  The of the moment rapper sings about Bruce Willis and is certainly right on trend, shining in one of this years must have hair pieces.

Next up is the new celeb obsession, this obsession goes by the name of ‘Silly Bandz’ and have been seen adorning the A-list’s wrists left, right and centre. This trend was once favoured by playground kids, however stylish stars such as the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker have been seen sporting the colourful bands.

Even though the fashion world has a definite love for statement towering heels, there are some days when your feet simply scream no more, especially after a night on the tiles wearing your favourite 6-inch stilettos.  This is when you must reach for the flats, these cutesy ballerina pumps are now being labelled ‘hangover shoes’ and are the perfect alternative to your monster heels and definitely something your tired tootsies will thank you for!  They come in a range of colours and styles so you have no excuse not to own at least one pair.  Check our Balenciaga’s collection, Victoria Beckham has even been seen sporting a pair!

On the down side is the celeb surgery craze.  Entitled ‘Dimpleplasty’ this new craze involves the horrendous procedure of having dimples drilled into your face, which apparently creates that ‘to die for’ cutesy look.

Humidity is one thing that seems to even be hitting England hard, is it sunny, is it raining no it’s just humid.  Not only is it weather that makes dressing in the morning a complete chore but its weather that makes even walking a small distance make us look like we have spent a few too many hours in the gym!

Denim Diapers have in fact been introduced in the US, this is however maybe going one step too far and we are sure babies aren’t quite old enough to be that fashion conscious.

Fashionably in tune.

Fashionably in tune.

There are several new faces that have hit the music scene this season, including the likes of Florrie, Cibelle and the hip new girl band, ‘The Like’.  All of them offer an eccentric yet very different style and one which many of us want to portray this summer.

First up is the new eccentric Cibelle, the loud and in your face fashionista offers a mixed up style, which is extremely true to her Brazilian roots.  Her sound offers soothing and floaty vocals, kooky percussion, and electronica.  This is all teamed with an acoustic guitar in order to create a sound that is most certainly unique.

Her look is similar to that of CSS’s style but has a few more paint splatters thrown into the mix and then of course there is the endless array of multi-coloured spandex and glittering high-shine sequins!

Even though this mash up may sound a little eccentric and daring to try, the insanely statement pieces seem to just work, however none of this young musicians looks are contrived.  If you wish to steal this young starlets style then be sure to get yourself down to an American Apparel store and invest in an all in one bodysuit!

Next up is Florrie; her look is almost the utmost opposite to that of Cibelles and offers a laid back casual yet sophisticated style.  The new singer on the scene works striped tees, denim hotpants and boyish beanie hatwear during the day, then swaps this casual cool look for a groomed and lady like glamour when it hits evening, both looks are equally as flattering on the singers svelte figure.

The singer has currently been mixing with the hippest of hip remixer’s in order to create a robotic yet charming pop sound that is right on for summer 2010.

Finally we have “The Like’, the of the moment band mix retro organs with Brit-pop guitars and in turn create endless melancholy lyrics, often about boys!

Their style works ultra on trend pieces with an added 60’s edge, if you wish to steal their style make sure you obtain a few on trend A-line dresses, team these with cutesy ballet flats and socks.

Glam Granny.

Glam Granny.

First it was the boyfriend shirts, then came dad’s Barbour jacket, quickly followed by granddad’s cardigan, it now seems Grandma’s wardrobe is on the cards!

Top designers such as Marc Jacobs, Marni, Prada, Daks and Louis Vuitton have this season all taken a little inspiration from Granny’s Wardrobe.  The prestigious designers have showcased a series mid-calf skirts, bobbled jumpers, matchy matchy accessories and heaven forbid, sensible shoes!

Granny Chic is officially in for Autumn and Winter 2010, whether you are a kooky and retro granny like the super-stylish New Yorker and octogenarian Iris Apfel or alternatively an uber chic and sophisticated grandma, such as Coco Chanel.

The modern take on grandma attire is certainly hitting the running hard for both this and next season; just make sure you steer well clear from the purple rinses however!

The catwalk was awash with four predominant styles, these included the Glam Granny look, the Posh Granny, the Mad Granny and then of course the Super Granny.

The Glam Granny works full skirts and nipped in waists, these were teamed with uber sleek gloves, petite stilettos and feminine handbags.  The look was finished with a stylish diamond embellished broach and was seen on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton.

Posh Granny takes inspiration from riding, walks in the countryside and sports cable knits, tweed like pieces and a pair of brogues.  Look to Daks for ideas on how to wear this trend.

Mad Granny can also be described as the most outrageous of all the Granny-esque looks.  Think Lady Gaga mixed with Iris Apfel and don’t forget the kooky glasses.

Super Granny is the ultimate in grannyness and works an almost Miss Marple like style, with mid-calf length swinging skirts, buttoned up cardies and knee high knitted socks.

What’s hot and what’s not for the summer season!

What’s hot and what’s not for the summer season!

Lourdes, the rebellious daughter of the iconic pop star Madonna has finally been released!  The stylish teen is currently working on an uber rock fashion line as well as sharing her opinions on her blog.

Next up is actually ‘heaven forbid’ turning off the Blackberry whilst away…you can’t call it a relaxing holiday if every other minute you hear that famous ‘ping’ as a new email, facebook notification, text or call comes through.  Switching off also means switching the handset off…don’t worry all the gossip, mail and news will still be waiting for you on your return.

Special edition magazines and overly chic coffee table books are proving to be a big hit this season and the must-have accessory for any fashionistas’ living room.  One such favourite seems to be Visionaire’s tribute to McQueen and V’s scratch-off cover.

The new way to propose this year is definitely with a Tiffany Cameo ring, it might not be a rock but the intricate design and diamond embossed edge are certain to have any girl go weak at the knees.

Now you know what is on the style agenda for 2010 it’s only fair to let you know what out for this season!  Stressed pets are one of them, with salons offering the likes of dog reiki and cat-upuncture, do you not think we are going a bit far?

Boring dance moves are a no no…especially when you can steal a few new ones from Miike Snow’s new music video; take a look at the sound track The Rabbit.

Eton Mess seems a tad lazy and certainly not the sophisticated way to dine, opt for an ice-cream sandwich instead.
