Chanel Coco Rouge Lip Colour

If you are thinking of reassessing your make up bag for this season make sure you add a statement lipstick to your beauty shopping list.  Lipstick is a powerful make up tool and has the ability to instantly update a look.  Whether you opt for a seductive rouge or a pretty pastel pink shade, applying colour to the lips has the effect of awakening the face.

Chanel’s beauty advisor goes by the name of Peter Philips and is the man behind this season’s obsession with lipstick.  He has created a line of new and exciting shades for the brand, each shade boasts to suit all and they are extremely easy to apply.  The no fuss range is entitled Rouge Coco and each one is priced at £21.  A few of the best selling colours include Rouge Coco in Cambon which comes in the shape of a hot pink colour, Rouge Noir which is more seductive and is a rich purple, Paris which is a shade in between the two and Rouge Coco Mademoiselle which offers a classic mid red tone.

Coco Chanel first introduced lip colour in 1954 and it has been a big hit with most girls ever since.  The styles created with this particular make up product has changed drastically however, both big name fashion houses, Prada and Marc Jacobs have all opted for creating the illusion of a cupid’s bow this season.  Models sported a variety of lip stains, each precisely applied to create the illusion of an extremely defined mouth.

This season is showcasing an array of bold statement lip shades and its certainly a must have item for the handbag.

From over-sized bows to statement scarves, hair attire is hot this season

From over-sized bows to statement scarves, hair attire is hot this season

2010 hair trendsBoth the catwalks and the A-list have gone mad for hair attire, from bouncy over-sized bows to statement scarves.  The main rule when considering this style is that the hair accessory should look effortless in order to work this trend aptly for the spring season.
There is an array of decorations to choose from including statement slides embellished with jewels and the handkerchief which was taken to new heights at Marni, through the creation of extremely tall headpieces.  John Galliano went one step further by adding floral decorations to a lace headpiece.  This look can be easily achieved at home if you obtain the right accessories.

Sonia for YSL has re-worked the little black Alice band by adding some dramatic edge to the piece, this dramatic take on the once simple style appeared in the shape of fierce studs and geometric shapes.
For a pretty cutesy look take inspiration from Milly and work the reformed tulle, this should be worn in various directions and creates a bold and girly look.

Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta and Chanel were some of the first to introduce this trend and it seems set to take us into the spring/summer season.  It’s a simple solution that will in turn add interest to a low-key outfit.  Oversized headbands create a real statement and A-list stars such as Margerita Missoni and Emily Blunt have been seen sporting such styles.

To recreate the look at home take a headscarf and wrap around the hair, finish the look by placing delicate and detailed pins to the side.  If this trend is a little over-the-top why not steal Scarlett Johansson elegant yet low-key style by adding a jeweled slide to a disheveled up do.  Another alternative is the Alice band, which looks great placed in a loose up do and creates some complete innocent style.
