Designer duo Dolce and Gabbana work the bride for s/s 2011.

The infamous fashion house Dolce & Gabbana have this season illustrated the bride to full effect, with their all new spring and summer 2011 line.

Last season revealed something very different to that of this season and the designer duo presented a series of Dolce models clad head to toe in black, each showcasing the fashion house’s infamous blazer and big knickers ensemble. This season however they have overturned the visual, in order to reveal the exact opposite. The catwalk presented a series of pure white brides in lace embellished full-length dresses, baby doll styles and cami/shorts pieces.

The signature theme of this show as always was Sicilian sensuality and it began with an array of stills, revealing traditional Mediterranean scenes of Italians sewing, atmospheric vistas and also Madonna’s memorable campaign for the brand.

It wasn’t all white on the day however and as standard of the label a few black looks did exist, such as classic long-sleeved dresses, the bustier and hot pants, and a few skirt suits. One of the most talked about pieces of the evening was a re-invented leopard print dress, which came in the shape of next season’s on trend ¾ lengths.

Any one of the outfits showcased would make you want to get married all over again, especially the going away outfits, which came complete with diamante stripes embossed onto v-neck dresses and were finished with ribbon-tie backs.

The denim pack!

The denim pack!

The season has revealed denim to be many Designers’ favourite fabrics for 2010. Denim flooded the menswear catwalks for spring, with designers such as D&G and Lanvin revealing an array of garments created in the on trend fabric. The new way to sport denim this season is certainly from top to toe and Doubling up the Denim is a must.

This once notorious and diverse trend has done a complete U-turn in the fashion world and is now one of the most wearable looks for this season, for both male and female. Marios Schwab is one such fashionable designer who revealed himself to be a big fan of the trend, and was recently took at the London Fashion Week show wearing a combination of dark blue skinny jeans teamed with an uber cool open faded denim shirt.

With traditional ‘workwear’ roots, this trend is extremely easy to pull off, especially if you base the look on a great pair of jeans. One such pair of statement jeans that has stood out on the catwalks this season is the studded Ricky jeans by True Religion and the ripped jeans from Acne. In regards to the coolest skinnies, opt for a pair from the label Nudie Jeans. Team any one of these uber cool pieces with a thin denim shirt. There are no rules with this trend so mixing and matching is a must.

Look to the D&G spring/summer show for ideas on how to wear the look, where distressed and dusty denim jeans and shirts were awash on the runway.
