New season beauty buys

The eye accessories for this season are really causing a stir in the fashion world. There appears to be a serious fashion thing happening with pastel shades in dusty pinks, blurry cream beiges, fresh soft purples and deep plums.

The best thing about pastel shades is that they are so completely wearable; they are great for both day and night and look fabulous with every outfit! Simply team with a creamy black liner for an evening look and add lashings of mascara to really make those eyes pop!

Clarins have revealed an all-new pastel palette thy features a total of 6 pretty pastel eye shadows, an eye shadow applicator and a cream black liner, basically all you need to make your peepers pop!

Experimenting with different eye colours is a great way to change your look, make sure you choose a shade that suits both your skin tone and eye colour, otherwise you could create something that looks a little washed out!

Create this season’s ‘winged eyeliner’ look with MAC Cosmetics.

Winged eyeliner is a timeless make-up style that can be worked both day and night. There are three simple steps that will allow you to create this sultry, smoky eyed look.

You should firstly begin by defining and emphasising the brow bone. In order to do this you should invest in the MAC Angled Brow Brush in no.208, team this with MAC Copperplate Eye Shadow and MAC Concrete Eye Shadow to create a grey and brown smoky hue. The brush will aid in defining the brows by both enhancing the arch and lengthening the brow.

Using a very fine, angled brush such as no.266 and the MAC Liquid liner in Point Black you should apply a small dot at each side of the eye, this should be kept in line with the end of the brow and also appear under the lash line. This dot will act as your guide. Begin at the lashes and join the dots along the lash line, be sure to angle the line so that it finishes at the end of the brow.

Finally finish with a lashing of glossy black mascara and a little blusher; MAC Prism blusher will contour your cheeks perfectly. Apply to the depths of the cheekbones to highlight them. The lips should be kept nude and low key, use a natural and matte lip shade such as MAC Lipstick in Honey Love.

This summer is all about experimenting with bold make-up trends and intense eye colours.

This summer is all about experimenting with bold make-up trends and intense eye colours.

One of the hottest new trends of this season is to mix-match colours in neon shades and hot hues. There are no rules as far as this trend is concerned, as long as you clash your colours, you will be right on trend for 2010.

Instead of the standard subtle blended shades you might wear as your daily look, choose a contrasting palette in order to create a statement and dramatic effect that screams look at me. Green and purple shades work well together and are right on trend for this summer. Try No7’s Stay Perfect Eye shadow in Emerald, this can be picked up from any beauty counter stocking the brand and is priced at £7.50. Team this pretty emerald shade with Urban Decay’s Cream Eye shadow in Delinquent, this particular product can be purchased for a price of £11 either online or in store.

If you are feeling extra brave why not throw a hot pink shadow into the mix, Revlon offer a matte eye shadow in Pink Innocence, which is priced at just £4.99 or alternatively try Lockdown Eye Shadow, Prisoner of Love from the brand Two Faced. This is priced at £13 nationwide.

Finish the look with a dash of coloured eyeliner, the highstreet chain M&S offer the Essential Colours Liquid Eyeliner in Jewel, at only £3 it won’t break the bank and adds a little oomph to your eyes as well as definition and shape.
