Bouffant beehives

Yes that trend you used to associate with the oldies is now hot off the runway for now!  Firstly, in order to create such a style, you will need to really work the backcombing in order to create the biggest bouffant ever!

With so many of the A-list working this style, it is no wonder we all want to give it a go for 2011.  The best thing about this style is you can work it into any ones locks!  Whether you have short, long, curly, frizzy, messy or fly away fine hair, this style can be worked into your locks.

Rhianna, Gwen Stefani and the Vivienne Westwood models are all sporting such a look, Salma Hayek and Bryce Dallas Howard offer a more low-key version and Vera Wang took it over board!  Vivienne Westwood even added a few extra clips to make it a little more individual and the best news, you to can create such a look in a few simple steps!

Firstly prep the mane with a volume root energiser; this will add texture to your beehive.

Section the hair horizontally from ear to ear and then begin the backcombing!

Sweep the hair to one side and slide curby grips in vertically, roll the extra hair in.

Finally spray with a gloss control hold and shine spray.  This will both gloss-up the style and hold it in place.  Voilla you have your very own beehive!

Unleash your diva side!

Unleash your diva side!

From tight ringlets to statement and over the top candy floss curls, this season’s must-have style is all about the disco diva look.

Judging by the catwalks the disco diva look is set to become huge for the autumn and winter season and an array of fashion names have been seen re-creating a similar style for the New Year.

Marc Jacob and Sonia Rykiel went for a definite seventies edge, whilst the highstreet favourite Topshop worked a in your face frizz, that showcased clouds of hair sauntering down the catwalks.

When working this style at home, the top stylist Guido suggests we think of a Parisian woman with an added edge of Studio 54 style.  Such a style was certainly present at the Sonia Rykiel show and was of course created by none other than Guido himself.

In order to create the style yourself you should begin by prepping the look with a great thickening lotion such as Redkin 06.  This exact product is priced at a total of £10.20.  You should then set the locks with small rollers.  Once set brush out the girls in order to achieve that airy halo of hair

The catwalks have showcased an array of styles for this season, everything from super sleek styles to beach boho looks appeared on the runways, many of the looks even offered a definite nod to Studio 54.

With so many styles emerging for the 2011 season it seems like it will be a difficult task to choose just one of the many available.

One must-have look comes in the shape of ‘Miss Minimal’ and works paired down locks that offer a definite graphic edge.  The Calvin Klein autumn winter show had this look nailed and models sported the epitome of Manhattan chic, which was pulled together with a glamorous finish.

The hair stylist Redkin and the super stylist Guido created a softer take on the look in order to create an uber sleek pony.  Antonio Berardi ditched the styling serum and instead used his fingers to create a messy parting; he then looped the locks into a hassle free bun.

In order to create such a clean and simple style at home you must keep the products to a minimum.  Begin by creating a sharp parting, then smooth on a little gel or serum in order to hold this in place.  The Elvive Nutri-Gloss Light Reflecting Serum from L’Oreal is the perfect product to use and costs just £4.50.  Finish by securing the locks into a low pony and voila you will have yourself a sleek and glossy style, perfect for both the office and an evening out!

This season relax your locks a little!

This season relax your locks a little!

After an assortment of endless seasonal dos, Christmas outings and office parties our hair can often feel a little malnourished and over heated.  Now the parties are over why not put down the styling irons and opt more a more low-key style.

Think relaxed styling and great colour for 2011 and work Sienna Millers uber cool locks for the New Year.

Sienna Miller has recently been seen sporting a relaxed topknot, which the actress has taken from this season’s catwalk shows, the un-done element of this particular look suits her style perfectly and plays up to her infamous boho look.

This look will not only look uber glamorous it is also extremely easy to achieve, you don’t even require a hairbrush!

Firstly you must rough dry the locks, using a comb back comb the hair gently before gathering up into a high pony tail using your fingers.  Pin the pony into a relaxed and playful bun, keeping it organic and undone will create a carefree style that won’t resemble the buns the cabin crew wear.

If you wish to colour your hair go for a beautifully soft and natural shade as this will work perfectly with the un-done style of the look.  It doesn’t even matter if your true colour shows through as this all adds to the effortless effect of the style.

Take a few style notes from Sienna Miller and work the right balance of sexy nonchalance.  Honey-beige tones compliment blue eyes and an English rose complexion the best

Modern with a hint of retro

Modern with a hint of retro

A new year generally means a new look for many of us and what better way to achieve this than to invest in a new hairstyle.

If like Lara Stone you already have blonde hair or alternatively you are thinking about going blonde then make sure you treat your hair to a few regular protein treatments, as this will help the hair stay sleek and glossy as well as healthy.

The model Lara Stone is a great source of inspiration if you wish to create a contemporary yet retro style with a certain edge of glamour.

Her cut appears both effortless and bohemian in style yet still looks structured.  In order to add a little subtle sexiness to her style she has created an element of volume at the back.  This is very similar to that of the style of Bridgette Bardot.

To re-create the supermodels style you should begin by roughly drying the locks, the next step involves wrapping large sections of hair around a pair of straightening irons.  In order to create the elevation and dramatic volume at the back pull the lengths of hair out at 90 degrees.

Go for a creamier blonde as this will make your locks appear more natural and less brassy.  A soft beige blonde teamed with a few subtle and natural lowlights will add the perfect contrast to such a hue.

Those that often colour their hair, especially with a blonde hue will often be susceptible to some bleach damage.  If you are set on colouring you must make sure you treat the locks with an assortment of high protein treatments in order to keep it protected and in good health

All American girl waves

All American girl waves

Take a few style notes from the actress and model Jessica Biel, this season she seems to e intent on working the all American girl waves.

Jessica certainly wears such a style well and you too can work a similar look for 2011, simply re-create the stars locks by blow-drying the hair with a paddle brush.  For best results use a light serum on the tips of the locks then curl with styling irons as appose to styling tongs.  Using styling irons will work to give a slightly more natural and organic flow to the waves.

Jessica has opted for a chestnut brown hue for her locks but this style will work with any colour.  Try to keep the look natural and opt for only subtle highlights, in order to warm the style up add a few golden tones to the hair, this will give a sexy sun-kissed look.  Clever colouring techniques will help to boost that natural and healthy glow!

If like Jessica Biel you have longer length locks then you should invest in a great clarifying shampoo in order to maintain a healthy head of hair, as longer lengths can often appear weathered.

A clarifying shampoo will work to rid the hair of chlorine, product build-up as well as combating the effects of pollution on the hair.

You should also treat the locks to a series of regular conditioning treatments.

This year is all about the disco doll

Think over the top earrings, J Brand Babe flares and clog heels and of course that uber chic disco doll hair. This is the perfect style for both Christmas and New Year and will guarantee you a look that screams

The ultimate in grey glamour

The ultimate in grey glamour

Grey is officially in for 2010 and not just regarding clothes, style icons such as the supermodel Kate Moss, the socialite and writer Pixie Geldof, the 14 year old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson and the fashion editor for Dazed & Confused, Katie Shillingford have all added a little grey to their locks. The 43-year-old fashion icon Daphne Guinness is also another A-list celebrity that has donned the metallic hair hue this season.

The grey hair trend first appeared on the fashion front at both Gareth Pugh’s and Giles Deacons spring and summer fashion runway shows for 2010, grey is now working its way into all areas of life and models, street styler’s and rock punk girls are working the trend.

The new found trend is said to have been sourced from the hair phenomenon that has been entitled ‘blonderexia’ and bleaching the hair has gone one step further, the fashion savvy crowd are now making their hair just that little bit lighter every time, which in urn creates that subtle grey sheen.

It appears that every other girl and guy is now sporting the grey hue on their heads and it is one trend that seems set to stay for 2011.

Team your new grey look with an all-new party dress, this season is all about going over the top and what better way to do this than to invest in a daring number with a plunging neck line. Look to the hit TV show Mad Men for inspiration on showing off those womanly curves.
