Victoria Beckham reveals yet another new look!

Victoria Beckham reveals yet another new look!

The renowned singer turned designer Victoria Beckham has yet again revealed another new hairstyle whilst out in France just this weekend. It’s certainly not the first time the infamous face has sported a drastic new style, for example back in 2007 she went from the footballer’s wife extensions to a more classic and much adored ‘Pob’. She then went to extreme measures and opted for a bleach blonde look which she revealed at the family’s arrival in LA that year.

Next there was the chop which consisted of a very chic pixie crop, which the star come designer showcased for the first time at the front row of the Marc Jacobs’ spring and summer 2009 show, which was held back in September 2008. This sophisticated crop was certainly a look that was far more suited to her new role as a Fashion Designer as it revealed a much more under stated classic style, very much like that of the stars featured line. Victoria has since seemingly been trying to grow out her shorter hair style and only last year revealed an extremely flattering length with a shaggy-esque crop.

But now the designer has decided to go back to the extensions, gone is the stylish crop and in its place are an array of longer length hair extensions. However unlike her ‘WAG’ days, these hair extensions are much more stylish and low-key, even if they still offer an element of the Footballer’s Wife, but then again it is the World Cup and Victoria Beckham may not want to lose her place as the Queen WAG.

Take the lead in the world of fashion with 2010’s spring and summer hair extension trends.

Take the lead in the world of fashion with 2010’s spring and summer hair extension trends.

This summer is certainly suggesting you make the most of your hair and by that we mean adding an injection of volume and oomph to your locks! In order to add this extra surge of energy, hairdressers and salon stylists, both backstage and in the industry are using hair extensions in extremely inventive and unique ways. This will in turn create the illusion of hair that has miraculously grown in size and volume. This new structure should be undetectable; hair extensions should both add height and maximise the appearance of your locks, just like a primer makes the most of the benefits of other make-up.

Michael john have created a new innovation in terms of hair care, entitled the Foundation Blow Dry, which is priced at £200 and can be purchased from the salon on 25 Albemarle Street in W1. The process involves attaching a total of 25 extensions to the lower layers of hair, which in turn will create a great volume boost that will grant hair with the foundation it needs to house ruffled summer waves.

Another salon that offers some serious show-stopping style is the brand Hari’s Hair & Beauty, who have launched their Glamour Red-Carpet Hair Booking. This particular treatment is priced at £150 and the prestigious salon can be found on 305 Brompton Road SW3. The process involves using semi-permanent hair extensions where the glue lasts for up to four days. This particular treatment will create the illusion of a statement full-bodied up-do that will be perfect for an evening out or alternatively any summer party’s you may have planned.

Another brand goes by the name of Inanch’s Holiday Hair extensions; these are obtainable for a cost starting at £200. The salon is situated on 220 Great Portland Street, again in W1. Schoolgirl Braids make a comeback on the catwalk.

Schoolgirl Braids make a comeback on the catwalk.

Maybe once upon a time braids were a school girl trend, now however this style is taking over the catwalks with models left, right and centre sporting a variety of hair styles. Braids have certainly erupted onto the spring and summer runways, establishing this hair trend as an alternative to the classic ponytail.

Alexander Wang was the first to introduce this style and worked a sporty, seventies version which echoed a certain edge of American cool. Hair stylist, Guido created fat, textured braids and messed them up a little by teasing out strands of hair; these braids were pulled to the side and ran down models’ shoulders. This unkempt style was also seen on the models at Margaret Howell where plaits were stress-free and surf like in style. The look was finished by applying lashings of salt spray to the locks and created the illusion of a day spent on the beach.

Giambattista Valli went for a polished look and kept strands weightless and piled high at the crown of the head, perfect for an evening look. Antonio Marras opted for minute and delicate fishtail plaits which appeared to be weaved loosely in and out of lengthy buoyant hair.

Long length and slender braids were all the rage at both high fashion brands Roberto Cavalli and Miu Miu. Alexander McQueen showcased miniscule and corn-row plaits which were braided extremely taut to the head, this particular look takes inspiration from fossil-inspired sculptures.

This is a perfect no hassle summer style and one which seems set to stay around for a while; it’s certainly a great alternative to wearing the hair down.

Fashions new fixation.

Fashions new fixation.

First there was the fascination with fake fur in the shape of over the top over and whelming jackets in all styles and colours, then there was the need for a sun kissed glow in the form of fake tan and now, this season we seem to be obsessed with fake hair.

Big wigs certainly have the effect of adding an edge to any outfit in an over the top dramatic way and there appears to be three general types of this ‘new’ hair.  Firstly there is the blunt sharply cut fringes aptly named ‘winges’, then there are the rainbow weaves, which range in colour from shocking pink to aqua turquoise.  The final style appears in the shape of the low-slung plait; this can usually be achieved by attaching a ready made plaited extension to the base of your hair.

The fresh and innovative hairpieces offered at 2010’s catwalk shows are certainly different from anything seen before.  Instead of opting for extensions that match your true colour perfectly and in turn give the illusion of natural flowing locks, the new extensions can be as far from your real hair shade as possible.  Think vibrant pink combined with platinum blonde or deep turquoise on brunette shades.

Louis Vuitton showcased some real show stopping Afro wigs almost resembling the style of poodle’s hair whilst miu miu went for low-slung plaits fastened at the nape of the neck.  A real talking point was the structured wigs created by the stylists at Alexander McQueen; hair has certainly become a fashion statement.

The amount of work that goes into this season’s hair pieces can take months of labour, the afro wigs created by Guido for Louis Vuitton took four weeks to sew together.  Hair is certainly the accessories of the moment and should be worn as a statement lipstick or embellished cuff would be worn.
