Pretty in pink

The Parisian powderhouse Guerlain has once again revealed why they are the go-to brand for make-up by showing us an assortment of brand new must-have blush compacts.

The latest make-up offerings come in a range of blushing pinks and all come in stylish limited edition casing.  The powders certainly offer every shade you would ever need, in hues including rose, peach, hot pink and baby pink.  All offer the standard Guerlain grace, style, sophistication and class and should be in every fashionista’s handbag, especially when they come in a stylish jet black engraved with spiralling tendril Guerlain design.

Once you have purchased the blush you can go that one step further and team it with a Guerlain impeccable shine rouge G lipstick, entitled Blush G de Guerlain.

The creative director of the infamous brand is said to be extremely impressed with this season’s shades and informs users they are both melodic and beautiful in style.

Of course the collection wouldn’t be complete without the piercing blue stare of a supermodel and the face of Guerlain’s new blushes.  Natalie Vodianova is the name behind this face and in the campaign wears the all-new rose tones.  Such shades are perfect for the summer months ahead of us and will give the effect of a true English-rose style.  Such a style is best worn during the day but can be dressed up at night with a more vivid lipstick shade such as a hot pink or deep rose colour

All the products encase a certain sense of style and attitude and are only for the most confident upon us!

Work the ‘Top Heavy’ look for 2010.

Work the ‘Top Heavy’ look for 2010.

The heavy black eyeliner flicks are still proving to be an extremely popular choice in terms of make up looks for 2010, they have been seen on both the A-list celebrities and adorning an array of models at the various catwalks shows.

However this season designers have taken the rock’n'roll look to a new level, adding even more edge to this already on this heavily dramatised eye make-up.

At Lanvin, models were done up as if wearing the make up of the night before, with a heavily drawn line appearing on the top of the lashes, smudged over the lids to deliberately work that rebel edge. Hair stylists worked a wet-look into models lock and showcased hair that was swept back into a neat and tidy bun; a few subtle fly away hairs left the look a little messy. Lips were kept soft and natural looking with a small lashing of gloss. This intentionally dishevelled make up complemented the chic collection of sculptural, brightly coloured satin cocktail dresses perfectly. All the attire appeared extremely girly and feminine in style.

A more sophisticated look was adopted by the fashion house YSL, where a chic 1940′s theme took centre stage; ladies wore their hair in bouffant up-dos and accessorised locks with cutesy hair bands. Neat flicks of eyeliner on the top lash created an incredibly feminine and sophisticated style, with complexions kept to an even tone. Nude matt lips finished this subtle look perfectly.

One of the hottest new trends of this season is to mix-match colours in neon shades and hot hues. There are no rules as far as this trend is concerned, as long as you clash your colours, you will be right on trend for 2010.

Instead of the standard subtle blended shades you might wear as your daily look, choose a contrasting palette in order to create a statement and dramatic effect that screams look at me. Green and purple shades work well together and are right on trend for this summer. Try No7’s Stay Perfect Eye shadow in Emerald, this can be picked up from any beauty counter stocking the brand and is priced at £7.50. Haute Couture goes blue and takes inspiration from this year’s hit movie Avatar.

Haute Couture goes blue and takes inspiration from this year’s hit movie Avatar.

It’s a normal occurrence for Haute Couture to delve into the world of fantasy and most of the attire is truly innovative and extraordinary in style, which is why it comes as no surprise to see the beauty inspirations follow in the same footsteps.

Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino are two of the designers who showcased exactly this and turned to the movie Avatar for inspiration. The make-up looks revealed at this season’s catwalks went to the utmost extremes, with a mixture of yellows, blues, greens and contemporary metallic blues. These shades and styles were used by the renowned make up artist Tom Pecheux who styled the models faces backstage at John Paul Gaultier and these colours and hues were seen adorning both the eyes and lips of the girls.

The high fashion house Valentino opted for whimsical pastel blues which were swept across the tops of the models faces, which in turn created the illusion of a blindfold like effect and really echoed the dreamlike fantasy world that Haute Couture strongly resembles. This blindfold was painted on the eyes of models that had extremely pale complexions in order to create a statement contrast; it was as if the girls had stepped off the set of James Cameron’s Avatar and onto the runway.
