Marni reveal an array of futuristic and high-tech fabrics for their all-new spring collection.

Consuelo Castiglione, the name behind Marni has certainly taken a little inspiration from high-tech fabrics for the all-new spring collection.

The introduction of the high-tech fabrics has been described as a natural progression for the iconic fashion house, especially as the labels main designer, Consuelo Castiglione has a certain admiration for such high-tech fabrics, which is generally what lead the house to be inspired by such materials and also the occasions where you would need to wear them.

The spring and summer collections revealed a scuba and swimming enthused style, including pieces such as neoprene tunics and wet suit knee-length shorts teamed with nude leather swimming caps.

Marni has always had a definite talent when it comes to both colour-blocking and layering, such a style was still very apparent, with the likes of circle print tops, coral skirts and leather jackets in mint. In order to carry the sea theme throughout the collection, a shell-like frill was disproportionately attached to the bottom of both the tops and dresses and shoes were in fact designed with practicality in mind rather than appearance, such as the rubber-soled sandals showcased.

There was however an array of pieces featured, rather than just swimwear. Such items included flower appliqué gauze dresses in drawstring styles, which again have been designed to last.

Marni has certainly pushed the boat out for this season; pieces seemed less commercial this year.

From over-sized bows to statement scarves, hair attire is hot this season

From over-sized bows to statement scarves, hair attire is hot this season

2010 hair trendsBoth the catwalks and the A-list have gone mad for hair attire, from bouncy over-sized bows to statement scarves.  The main rule when considering this style is that the hair accessory should look effortless in order to work this trend aptly for the spring season.
There is an array of decorations to choose from including statement slides embellished with jewels and the handkerchief which was taken to new heights at Marni, through the creation of extremely tall headpieces.  John Galliano went one step further by adding floral decorations to a lace headpiece.  This look can be easily achieved at home if you obtain the right accessories.

Sonia for YSL has re-worked the little black Alice band by adding some dramatic edge to the piece, this dramatic take on the once simple style appeared in the shape of fierce studs and geometric shapes.
For a pretty cutesy look take inspiration from Milly and work the reformed tulle, this should be worn in various directions and creates a bold and girly look.

Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta and Chanel were some of the first to introduce this trend and it seems set to take us into the spring/summer season.  It’s a simple solution that will in turn add interest to a low-key outfit.  Oversized headbands create a real statement and A-list stars such as Margerita Missoni and Emily Blunt have been seen sporting such styles.

To recreate the look at home take a headscarf and wrap around the hair, finish the look by placing delicate and detailed pins to the side.  If this trend is a little over-the-top why not steal Scarlett Johansson elegant yet low-key style by adding a jeweled slide to a disheveled up do.  Another alternative is the Alice band, which looks great placed in a loose up do and creates some complete innocent style.
