New things to try this season

New things to try this season

Now that the autumn and winter trends are fast coming into play, it is now the time to start experimenting with a few new styles.

This could be in the shape of a hot new lip colour such as a plum or red hue, a killer new pair of on-trend fur rimmed boots, wedges instead of skinny stiletto heels, a new pair of coloured denim jeans or anything else that tickles your fashion fancy on the fashion radar.

Jeans have taken centre stage in the past season, with hot orange, pink, washed out blue, red and an assortment of other shades.  Opt to tone down the shades for the winter season and choose a richer colour rather than a neon.

Team with a pair of this seasons must-have on-trend big boots!  Such boots go with just about everything and are both on the runway and now in the high street boutiques!

Such boots are most definitely designed to be seen and should never be hidden, always wear them over skinnies or with cutesy short skirts!

Just make sure you invest in a pair with one definite embellishment.  They should also offer either a wedge or cuban style heel, which makes them the perfect attire for the winter season.  This added extra comes in the shape of fur and can be lining the insides, the edges or come in the shape of tassle extras.

The eye accessories for this season are really causing a stir in the fashion world. There appears to be a serious fashion thing happening with pastel shades in dusty pinks, blurry cream beiges, fresh soft purples and deep plums.

The best thing about pastel shades is that they are so completely wearable; they are great for both day and night and look fabulous with every outfit! Simply team with a creamy black liner for an evening look and add lashings of mascara to really make those eyes pop!

Clarins have revealed an all-new pastel palette thy features a total of 6 pretty pastel eye shadows, an eye shadow applicator and a cream black liner, basically all you need to make your peepers pop!

Experimenting with different eye colours is a great way to change your look, make sure you choose a shade that suits both your skin tone and eye colour, otherwise you could create something that looks a little washed out!

In the fashion know for 2011

This season is sporting some seriously out there fashions in the shape of neon bright colours, hot hues and retro shapes!

Leather was certainly big on the catwalks but instead of the usual subdued shades such as black, grey, tan and brown, this season’s leather look had received a definite make over! This makeover came in the shape of metallic pieces, lashings of silver, neon colours and bold hues!

These over the top hues were teamed with patent Leather clutches, overlapping skinny belts in equally contrasting colours and uber chic retro heels in the shape of neon bright stilettos. Jewellery was kept to a minimum but if added as s statement it came in the shape of a piece that screamed look at me!

Check out Miu Miu’s hot heels, the must-have pair for 2011 come in hues of neon green, black and white, of course they are extremely high, as is standard of this particular out there label!  You certainly don’t expect any of Miu Miu’s collections to blend into the crowd!

Another designer that is causing a stir, especially when it comes to daring attire is Alexander McQueen.  The labels new ranges of shoes are already at the top of every fashionista’s wish list.  The shoes can only be described as a work of art and combine intricate shapes and butterflies in the design and of course the designs appear sitting upon super high heels.  Forget clogs and wedges this season is back to working the dangerously high skyscraper stiletto styles, it may be an idea to get taxis to the door if you intend on wearing any one of the McQueen creations

Nailing it for autumn and winter 2010.

Nailing it for autumn and winter 2010.

Despite this season’s smoky eyes and ruby red lips being a big hit on the catwalk, our attention is now being drawn elsewhere…to your fingertips. Nails are seemingly having a bit of a fashion moment with the likes of singers such as Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyonce all working this trend massively. This autumn’s nail trends are high on the fashion agenda and come in the shape of a more subtle tone, such as nudes, caramels and cashmere hues.

Look to Melanie Griffith for style inspiration, she has this season in fact been referred to as a beauty inspiration. Her role in her 1988 movie ‘Working Girl’ flawlessly captures the spirit of the long oval shape and caramel, nude hues that has caught the caught the attention of every nail extremist this season.

Such a look was perfectly showcased at both the Dior and the Viktor & Rolf shows this season, this is most definitely an extremely wearable trend that echoes fashion’s re-kindled love affair with true lady-like elegance.

Marc Jacobs’ kept model’s nails short and square and in the infamous Jacob’s style, they each sported a different variation of this season’s must-have nude shades. Designer Max Azria opted for a more neutral nail colour, in fact it looked barely there at all. With the use of CND colours, nails were painted a shade almost resembling their natural colour exactly, this in turn created a buffed and groomed look that oozed impeccable style.

Look brighter and fresher in an instance with a summer style blush.

There is an array of blushers available on the market, from creams and tinted gels to mousse formulas and powders. The creams, tinted gels and mousses aid in creating a softer and more natural effect than the standard powder formulas, they also have the added bonus of lasting longer, this makes them perfect for the warmer months. These particular styles of blushers are also great for mature skin as they are extremely moisturising and won’t age the complexion.

For best results the preferred blusher should be applied over other make-up, depending on how strong or subtle you desire the blush to be depends on how heavy you should apply the product. For a more dramatic look a darker more intense shade should be used but for a natural, barely there look a lighter shade should be applied to the cheeks.

The blush formula should be applied to the apples of the cheeks; the best technique in order to do this is to smile. The product should then be applied using an upward and outwards motion in order to blend the colour correctly; the blush should run along the cheekbones and towards the temples.

Using a brush will create the illusion of both a smooth and flawless effect. If you are using a liquid tint style product, the formula should be blended quickly using the fingertips, as these particular styles of blush tend to dry extremely quickly.

If you have fair skin you should opt for a soft pink or peach palette, as these shades will brighten a pale complexion. Tawny and rose hues work better on olive toned skins and brighter pigments in lilac, raspberry pinks and plums are perfect for darker skins.
