One of this season’s hot new looks has to be the 1970’s girl, here’s how to work it!

One of this season’s hot new looks has to be the 1970’s girl, here’s how to work it!

When you think of the ladies of the 1970’s, you instantly think of a girl with a free spirit, but one that opts for the VIP treatment everywhere.

Take a look at the Links of London collection for inspiration, the label have an assortment of delicate chains and charms, all of which are perfect for re-inventing the 1970’s look. Layer each piece for the ultimate statement look; team with a silk chiffon blouse and this season’s camel hue shoes.

The high fashion house Gucci offer an adorable shoulder bag complete with gold chain shoulder strap. Priced at £785 the gold-plated and suede enthused bag is ideal for evenings out and the perfect addition to any 1970’s esqu outfit.

Instead this new breed of bags offer structure and come in an assortment of signature shapes, leather and canvas seem to be the most popular this season. Gucci have introduced a deep plum travel holdall, which is perfect for weekends away and can be obtained for a total price of £1,520

August and fashion.

August and fashion.

This season proves it’s time to step into reality and forget about the ‘of the moment’ trends and the over the top and over embellished pieces that can never quite leave the catwalk.  This August it’s time to get real, there are no longer any impractical and over priced attire ruling the runways, instead this attire has been replaced by everyday wear with an added edge and women with women in mind have designed them all.

This proper grown-up attire may not be creating an over the top statement, they neither are however anything close to boring or anything like the functional clothes that have been labelled investment dress.

This season designers are creating a series of attire that is set to make your pulse reach the roof.  The four key looks appear to be the ‘seductress’, the ‘ingénue’, the ‘lady’ and the ‘vamp’, meaning there is most certainly a style to suit all!

When working anyone of these styles you will in turn be creating the new you.  Think ‘Nouveau Goth’ meets the ‘Rockabilly’ and throw together a mix of lambskin, silk and leather.  Finish the ensemble with a statement accessory such as a felt top hat.

Other looks to work include the adventurer and the traveller.  When styling the traveller look to Erdem and team one of his newly introduced wool capes with a pair of lace up flannel boots by the high-end fashion savvy Christian Louboutin.

The traveller works a mixture of wool, silk and jersey fabrics, each layered over the other in order to create a low key and relaxed look with that luxurious edge.
